How is asthma treated?

There is no cure for asthma but there are medications to control the airway inflammation and to open up the airways during an asthma attack. These medications can be taken orally or inhaled. Inhaled medications provide quick relief of symptoms with a lower risk of side effects than oral medications.

You should ensure that your asthma is well controlled with regular medication. But apart from medication, an all-rounded approach which incorporates avoidance of trigger factors, appropriate lifestyle modification, physical activity and regular assessment of your condition by your doctor is important.
