High blood glucose
(Hyperglycaemia)

Occurs
when the blood glucose level is too high (more than
15mmol/L).
This happens when your body does not have enough insulin,
when you:

forget
to take your medicine or insulin or not taking
enough of it |
 |
eat too much or eat
the wrong types of food |
 |
are sick, injured
or stressed |
You may experience:
 |
frequent
urination which may even disturb your sleep |
 |
increased thirst |
 |
tiredness and confusion |
 |
nausea and vomiting |
 |
problems with vision |

 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
 |
What
you must do
Consult your doctor as soon as possible
for treatment.
If you experience:
 |
dry mouth and skin |
 |
fast breathing |
 |
drowsiness |
 |
loss of consciousness |
|
|
 |
your
family member or caregiver must call
an ambulance immediately as this would
mean more urgent treatment is necessary.
