Diabetes should not prevent you from travelling abroad.

Carry some form of identification
(e.g. card) that states in different languages that
you have diabetes and the types and doses of medicines
you are taking daily |

Pack your medicines neatly
and bring along extra medicines,
syringes, insulin, etc to more than cover your entire
trip in case
of any delay or extension of your trip |
| |
Keep your medicines within easy reach
at all times, such as in your hand luggage |
| |
Bring your blood glucose
testing sets and continue charting
your glucose level in your record book |
| |
Bring along some sugar
packets or sweets in case you should
develop hypoglycemia |
| |
Request for a ‘diabetic diet’
when booking your airline ticket. These are
special meals reserved for diabetics |

a medical check-up before you travel.
Discuss and plan out with your

for long plane flights. He may also prescribe medicines for common
symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, flu, motion
sickness etc. |
