As part of Eye Care Week 2011, we are excited to bring you a “Design an Eye Care T-shirt” Competition. There are great prizes to be won. The designs of the winning entries will be reproduced as T-shirts and presented to the winning teams. The winning entries will also be showcased in Healthzone, HPB online and HPB Facebook page.
OBJECTIVE OF THE COMPETITION
The competition aims to raise children’s awareness on how outdoor activities can protect their eyes against myopia.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
ELIGIBILITY
All Primary 3 to 6 students are eligible to participate in the competition.
THEME
The theme for the competition is “Keep Myopia at Bay, Go Outdoors and Play”.
Students are to submit an original design.
The design should reinforce good eye care habits particularly the “Keep Myopia At Bay, Go Outdoors and Play” message. Students are encouraged to go outdoors in a park/farm or a big open space to carry out this activity. Don’t forget to take a photo of your team working on the design and send it along with your entry.
REQUIREMENTS
i. Schools are to indicate their participation on the Reply Form for the competition by 11 March 2011.
ii. Each team should consist of a maximum of 3 students.
iii. A school is allowed to send more than one entry and the school with the maximum entries wins a prize as well.
No changes are allowed to the basic template of the T shirt and the students should work on within the outline provided.
iv The students are advised to use colours and new ideas to make the design visually appealing.
vi. The basic template of the T-shirt can be downloaded here.
vii. Send the design in soft copy to hpb_yhp @hpb.gov.sg with the subject as “Design an Eye care T shirt” Competition (School name)
ix. The entry must be accompanied by a soft copy of the team’s photo and a copy of the submission form (Page 9).
x. The deadline for submission is 8 Apr 2011.
JUDGING CRITERIA
Judging will be based on relevance of the messages conveyed by the design, the Inclusion of the theme, attractiveness of the visual and originality of the idea. The judges’ decision will be final and no further correspondence will be entertained. The organisers reserve the right not to award any of the prizes, should entries fail, in the opinion of the judges, to meet the desired standards.
PRIZES
First Prize: $3000 worth of sports vouchers
Second Prize: $2,000 worth of sports vouchers
Third Prize: $1000 worth of sports vouchers
Three consolation prizes: $500 worth of sports vouchers each
For school with the maximum number of entries: Gift Hamper worth $ 1500
