Companies participating in HCS Labelling Programme are entitled to promote their products in events and activities organized by HPB. Each of the events or activities reaches different target audience with specific nutrition messages. Check the list below for up and coming events or activities.

Supermarket Tours for Chronic Disease Management Programme - Profiling of Healthier Choice Symbol products



One of the resources available for individuals managing chronic disease and their family members, care givers, is a short two hour supermarket tour to teach them skills and tips on purchasing suitable groceries for managing their conditions. The main conditions addressed are diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia and osteoporosis. These tours would be made available to all members of the public at the Community Wellness Centers and Community Centers.

Besides teaching participants the "how-tos" of labels reading and making comparisons between products, the tour also involves bringing them to respective sections of the supermarket and highlighting suitable products for managing these different conditions. A special mention will be made for products carrying the Healthier Choice Symbol (HCS) as a healthier option to consider when purchasing. For example, dairy or dairy products carrying the HCS logo would be lower in fat and higher in calcium, beneficial for preventing and managing osteoporosis. Similarly, products lower in sodium would be highlighted to individuals managing hypertension as a healthier option to consider.

To further enhance the promotion of Healthier Choice Symbol products, HPB is inviting companies to partner and support the supermarket tours with relevant HCS products for the goodie bag for participants. Special mention of these products will be made during the tour by the guides as teaching aids to facilitate learning. The tours target to reach 1000 participants starting October till April 2010 over 20 wellness and community centers island-wide.

Singapore - Food Expo 2009

Singapore Food Expo is the largest food exhibition for the local food industries. It serves as a platform for food companies to showcase their food products to the consumers. HPB will be participating in the food expo to raise awareness of the members of public on HCS, to publicise participating HCS companies and also to promote uptake of HCS products among visitors. This could help your branding scale greater heights within the industry.

Wellness Recipe Project

In this project, we will be working with famous chefs to develop 150 recipes suitable for patients with diabetes, hyperlipidaemia and hypertension. Each recipe will showcase a Healthier Choice Symbol (HCS) product. Recipes developed will then be used during cooking classes at community centres and workplaces. They will also be publicized via cooking demonstrations at supermarkets and will be distributed to hospitals and polyclinics for use during dietary counselling.

Companies wishing to have their products incorporated into the recipes should contact us before 15 April. A fee will be charged for incorporating products into the recipes.


HCS Bazaar

HCS bazaar is an excellent platform to encourage purchase of healthier foods at workplace. With the convenience of having the bazaar held at the workplace and items sold at discounted price, it has proven to be a big hit among many workplaces. This is a on-going project. HCS bazaar is usually held at workplace on weekdays from 11am-2pm.


Wok the Talk

This programme aims to train volunteers to be healthy eating and cooking ambassadors through a series of cooking classes. These volunteers, in turn, will share what they have learnt with their friends, family and colleagues through similar cooking sessions.

The preparation of tasty and healthy dishes by creatively pairing HCS products with other ingredients will be taught and demonstrated to these ambassadors during the training sessions by qualified trainers certified by HPB.

Companies can participate in this activity by providing HCS products as ingredients to be used in the cooking demonstrations and relevant promotional materials for distribution.

Weight Management Programme

"Weigh to go" is a comprehensive workplace weight management package specially designed for employees with BMI = 25 to help them achieve and maintain a healthy weight. This three modular programme, spanned over a year, employs behavioral techniques and life skills impartation to help employees make positive lifestyles changes to manage their weight, A component of the programme would focus on label reading and choosing healthier choice products.

Companies with HCS products may wish to contribute their products to the programme to enhance the learning experience of the participants. Products would be used as teaching aids as well as for prizes during the workshop sessions.

Companies may also consider to organize this event for their employees. This programme is now open for registration. Companies interested in participating can click here for more details about the programme and costing.
