What You Need to Know about the Youth Health Promotion Grant (YHPG)
What is this Grant about? The YHPG aims to help community organisations with a strong youth development focus to start youth health promotion programmes/activities. These programmes/activities should be designed to increase awareness and knowledge, or change attitudes and behaviours relating to the following health topics.
- Smoking Control/Cessation
- Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) & HIV Prevention
- Mental Wellness
- Any other youth-health related topics (subject to HPB’s approval)
What does the Grant cover? The Grant provides:
- Full/Partial Funding of projects
- Consultancy from HPB
- Relevant Training, where necessary
How much is the Grant? The maximum grant is 80% of the project cost, or up to $3,000, whichever is lower, per organisation, per calendar year, on a reimbursement basis. HPB reserves the right to decide on final quantum of funding based on its own assessment of the programmes/activities.
Who can apply for the Grant? Community-based organisations (registered in Singapore) with a strong youth development focus including youth organisations, voluntary welfare organisations, family service centres and self help groups that are keen in conducting youth health promotion programmes/activities targeted at youth aged 15 to 24 years old and youth leaders can apply for YHPG. The community organisations must abide by the following terms and conditions if seeking YHPG funding:
- HPB’s prior approval for the project must be obtained before commencing the programmes/activities.
- Adherence to the approved project plan is required. The community organisation is to seek HPB’s clearance before making any changes to the plan.
- All programme/activities must be held in a community/public setting.
- The project must be completed within 3 months after HPB’s in-principle approval is given.
- Completed report of the programme/activity must be submitted to HPB within 3 months of completion of project.
- All projects must be completed by end February 2009.
How to apply for the Grant? Submit the completed YHPG Application Form at least 1 month before the programme/activity date. HPB will notify the applicants of the status of application within 3 weeks upon receiving the application.
How is the community organisation reimbursed? The Grant will be disbursed within 1 month upon completion of the project, provided all relevant supporting documents submitted are complete and in good order. To seek reimbursement, please submit:
- Photocopies of receipts, payments vouchers or statement of payment.
- Inter-bank GIRO Form (No cash payment will be made to organisations or individuals).
- Project evaluation and report with finalised budget statements and photos (if any).
Applicants are not eligible to apply for YHPG if they have secured:
- Alternative HPB funding source; or
- Funding source that conflicts with HPB’s interest.
All payments will be made via GIRO into a non personal bank account held by the community organisation and will be based on principal sum and excludes GST.
