Myopia •  Most common eyesight problem in Singapore.
  •  Occurs when light is focused in front of the retina instead of on it when we look at distant objects.
  •  The eyeball is longer than usual in people with myopia.
  •  A myopic person can see near objects clearly but distant objects appear blurred.

Hyperopia •  Occurs when light is focused behind the retina instead of on it when we look at distant objects.
  •  The eyeball is shorter than usual in people with hyperopia.
  •  A hyperopic person will have difficulty with both distant and near vision but near vision is usually affected to a greater degree.

Astigmatism •  Occurs when the light is not focused at one focal point on the retina.
  •  Usually due to the front surface (cornea) of the eye being ovoid/ellipsoidal and not spherical.
  •  The uneven curvature of the cornea does not focus light at the same position, causing blurred or distorted vision.
