... or was it Oh no, Oh no, Oh no?
Call me cynical, but somehow I didn't enjoy this year's World Cup as much as the previous one. Maybe it was because I didn't have a favourite team this time, nor a favourite player.
This World Cup was also quite unpredictable. Who would have expected that Brazil would be knocked out by France, once again?
Germany was just minutes away from a penalty shootout that they might have won against eventual champions Italy.
And poor Zinedine Zidane - after so many years playing brilliant football, his career had to end with a headbutt! Just as David Beckham's infamous sending-off against Argentina will never be totally forgotten, Zidane's attack on Marco Materazzi will go down in history.
Zidane should have gone for HPB's Anger Management talk organised by HIC. Then maybe he would have won the World Cup again. The best form of revenge is not to get mad, but to get even!
Well, many HPBians who took part in our contest didn't expect the surprise eliminations either. This leads to the big question:
Did anyone win the VOICES World Cup competition?
Well ... let's say we should all stick to our day jobs.
There were some loyal England fans in HPB, judging from some of the votes we received. Sorry guys - keep on hoping. Maybe one day the numbers 1-9-6-6 will strike 4D.
At the very least, as a Singaporean I was proud that we had a representative at this World Cup. Shamsul Maidin, we love you!
