Health Screening

George and Vanessa showing off their battle scarsHealth screening is not something new to HPB staff, especially those who have been with the Board for many years. For this year’s event, close to 400 came for the health screening from 16 to 21 November, 2006.

Here are some comments from those who participated.

The health screening exercise was generally well-done. It was free and very convenient for HPBians to go for the checkup. Without this exercise, I would not have gone for the screening. It was a great way for HPB to show appreciation and concern for the staff.”

From Roy Ngerng, Communicable Disease Education

This is not the first time that I’ve had health screening at a workplace. The exercise was efficient and the flow was smooth. It’s also heartwarming to find that breakfast was offered to the participants. As to what could be done better, the service provider could have been more proactive in advising the staff about the different screening packages that were available. And there wasn’t much choice in the type of tests. The phlebotomist could have used smaller needles to reduce the discomfort. Some of us came back with bruises on our arms!”

From Stephen Tan, Community Outreach

The staff was professional in carrying out the screening services. But some of us were a little lost at the blood taking station, because we didn’t know who’s supposed to go first. Perhaps they could have given us a queue number.”

From Chia Siok Hoon, Mental Health

I’m touched that HPB provided free Health screening for all staff.”

From Cherlyn Hoo, Communicable Disease Education

The whole procedure went by very fast and in order. I wanted to find out more about the other health screening packages, but no one offered any information and eventually it slipped my mind.”

From Noriha Bte La Sulong, Preventive Health Service

It was nice to receive breakfast after the blood taking! The service providers were very warm and friendly. However, information on the extensive health screening was not presented up front. I had to ask for it.”

From Wong Qwee Lymm, Community Outreach

I’ve not had health checks done at my previous company, so this was a pleasant surprise. The whole procedure was fast and hassle-free. I’ll probably participate again next year.”
