New Year – New Beginning

Dear Readers,

Welcome to another New Year!  We have bid “Farewell” to 2006 and 2007 has so quickly descended upon us, whether we are ready or not.

January is a good month to reflect on the past year’s events and to plan for the new year. 2006 was not a good year for me. I had to accommodate a pace-maker, endured many nasty needle pricks and made the amazing rounds of medical institutions. They included (love those acronyms) NHC, SGH, NCC, SNEC, NDC as well as Gleneagles, Mt Alvernia and Polyclinic. Ask me if you need feedback on any of these services.

My new year’s resolutions?
To faithfully swallow the pills, titrate my thyroxin level, monitor the blood pressure and look at the brighter side of life. Of course I have to choose healthier meals and keep active. I have also resolved to avoid exercises such as flying off the handle, slamming the door, jumping into conclusion and nit picking! What about you?

In this new year’s issue of Voices Reloaded, we feature many new faces in HPB. Read about the new additions to HPB and get to know them better. We also feature another mission by the nurses, this time to Laos, to screen the health of some school children in Vientiane. Of course, we must not forget the new lunar year of the pig, just round the corner – hence we have some things on the Chinese horoscope as well as some suggestions for healthier and tasty recipes for the reunion dinner.
Enjoy.

新春愉快, 年年有鱼
(Happy new year &  wishing you bountiful harvests every year)

Shirley
