HPB’s “Funtasia” Family Day 2007
HPBians celebrated “Funtasia” family day on 3 March at Fort Canning Park this year. After experiencing two consecutive days of rain and gloomy weather, the organising committee members were indeed glad when they were greeted by a cool, sunny morning on that day.
The occasion was graced by the presence of HPB Chairman, Mr Wong Yew Meng, CEO Mr Lam Pin Woon and the directors Dr Rose Vaithinathan, Dr Theresa Yoong, Dr Vijaya, Dr Annie Ling, Mrs Tan Seok Lee and Ms Low Saw Chan.
After the usual welcoming address by the emcee and the organising chairperson, Mr Lam gave a short speech of thanks and commendation to six nursing staff from the School Health Service health team, S1P, (YHD) on their bravery and quick action in helping a pupil who had an accident in a school. Mr Wong awarded them with certificates of commendation.

The event was then rolled out by Mr Lam who triggered the explosion of two cannons that showered the participants with colourful silvery streamers and glittering confetti. A short mass dance warm-up followed this.
The major event was the land telematch where 40 members from a total of 316 participants were grouped into 4 teams. HPBians from the various divisions mingled easily and tried their best to get their teams the best score for all the matches. Even CEO was not spared - he had to sweat it out for his team too.
Other highlights that were concurrently conducted during the event included activities such as: Massage corner / Hand paraffin treatment, Sand Art, Face-painting, Caricaturing, Variety Show – ‘Circus in a Suitcase’, Stage Games, the Acting Game, Freeze! And Simon Says!
The day ended with a prize presentation for all contests and a total of 25 lucky draw prizes were given away. It was truly a “fantasia” family day!
