YHD Service Excellence Award Presentation
Clinical Standards and Quality (CSQ) Department hosted the fifth YHD Service Excellence Award Presentation on 9 Mar 2007 at the College of Medicine Building, MOH. Award recipients were selected based on feedback from students, parents, the public and school principals received in 2006. 137 staff from SHC, SDC and field / mobile dental clinics received the individual awards. 13 teams from SHS and 3 from NMPP received the team awards. Team West 1 (primary) from SHS and East 4 from NMPP walked away with the top team awards.
Service excellence is about creating positive experiences for our clients, listening and understanding their concerns, keeping promises and providing a service that exceeds their needs, priorities and expectations. Clients always remember when they are treated well. As service providers, we should always find ways to surprise and delight them.
Five award recipients shared their thoughts on how providing excellent service and “going the extra mile” could make a difference. They also cited inspiring stories on how being appreciated by the students, parents and principals could be both fulfilling and rewarding. Accolades like, “thank you for your professionalism and excellent service,” and “please let us have the same team again next year” certainly exhilarated the recipients.
The occasion was also filled with fun, laughter and entertainment. Some of the 300 staff in attendance participated in whacky games by the whacky emcee.
Not to be outshone, Senior Dental Therapist Christine Yeo, who spent the last three years at Bhaskar's Dance Academy, performed an awesome Indian classical dance of devotion called "Pushpanjali" or “flower offering to Indian Gods with folded hands”. The event finally wrapped up with funny brain teasers that left the “brain dead” audience laughing hilariously.
