Fitness @ Work At the Heartlands – Bringing Physical Activities Closer to People
8th May 2007, late afternoon, the weather began to turn dark and gloomy. Lynn, the programme executive for the launch of F@W got really worried. Luckily, the Heavens really love her and it did not pour after all.

It was a fantastic turnout for the launch of Fitness@Work at the Toa Payoh HDB Hub on Tuesday, despite the gloomy and humid weather. About 1000 people turned up in a wave of yellow at 6.30pm and participated in the mass workout choreographed by our key partner, the California Fitness Gym. Led by the Guest-of-Honour, the mayor of central district and Member of Parliament, Toa Payoh-Bishan GRC, Mr Zainudin Nordin and our CEO, Mr Lam Pin Woon, the masses sweated it all out at the open space of HDB Hub. About 50 HPBians also joined in the fun.

The workout routine also introduced a dance routine for the first time. Although there was some awkward body in-coordination initially, people generally had a great time. Of course, when the ever-popular body-combat routine came on, people went crazy and the energy level at the site just escalated.

An hour later, all participants were given a bottle of water and healthy fruits to re-charge after the workout. All in all, the event was a great success. Hopefully, this initiative will encourage and motivate people to fit exercise into their daily lives.
