ally

Ally is a people-oriented cat. She was described as a lap cat when she was put up for adoption. She is so ‘manja’ and loves to cuddle up to us whenever the family is at home. She is also very motherly to the younger adopted cats and constantly grooming them.

dino

Dino is my pet Maltese. He has got soft and white fur. Dino likes
to bark whenever he hears loud noises and loves going to the market on
Sunday mornings. He will bark and wag his tail in anticipation of the trip to the market. In addition to his usual doggie diet, he also loves papaya. We just need to say the word "Papaya" and he will come running to the dining table. He really is a very lovable playmate!

hamster

This is Little Rho. She is a 16-months old dwarf hamster, Roborovski breed. As all hamsters do, she is instinctively greedy (call it survival instinct), once fresh food is discovered in its little home, she will grab all the favourite bits and stuff her cheeks full, then transport them all to her “hiding” place.

The little bit of nuisance she is, after exercising in her hamster wheel each night, she will pee in the wheel, and even after buying her a new wheel, the suspected result was true – she is a creature of habit and I still have to wash the wheel each morning.

She lives on the 3rd storey of my shelf, with a neighbour on the 2nd storey, Spidey (so aptly-named because of his amazing climbing ability when he was first given his new home – he was climbing everywhere and anywhere not much unlike the way we climb on monkey bars as kids – yes, front paws only!, and he can traverse all the little cage bars at the top of the cage!), another dwarf hamster, 1 year old, Winter White Pearl breed.

They meet up on dates in the evenings to share a snack or fruit, and commonly Spidey falls asleep while Little Rho grooms his fur.

The photos shown here are of them playing in a Lego panorama of a garden house built for them.

jerry

Jerry is my 4 year old ginger coloured tom cat.  He is an aloof and quiet cat but good natured.  His cuddly plush toy look makes one want to cuddle him, but he detests cuddling.

He prefers dried cat food and will not want any cooked food, except for prawns and durians, preferably D24 type. His favourite activity is to catch lizards and devour it.  Once he caught three lizards within a night, and ate them all up and fell ill after that.  He was warded for two days and was on intravenous drip.  The veterinarian commended him for being a very good-natured cat.

Jerry is known as the “Ang Moh” cat in the house as he listens to commands in English.

(Left) Jasmine, (Right): BoiBoi

Jasmine, a Schnauzer aka MinMin is turning 3 years old this July. Her nicknames include ‘mei-nu’ (pretty girl) and ‘mei-mei’ (little girl) and she responds to all these names. She is smart and obedient and shows her affection by kissing you and leaning her face against your face. She also has the talent to sing along while I ‘dog-sing’, the way dogs sing, I reckon. She is slightly overweight now, probably due to her habit of having supper. She usually has a quick bite before her sleep.  So her diet is much controlled now and her weight is maintained.

BoiBoi, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is turning 4 years old on 23 May. BoiBoi is very ‘manja’ yet a bit ‘atas’ boy. He doesn’t like you to tell him what to do. For instance, he sometimes ignores you when you call him, however, through eyes contact and body gesture, he will then respond to you. He is not scared of getting beaten up, not like Jasmine. He is very ‘sticky’ and follows almost everywhere you go.

Although Jasmine is sweet and small in size, she is aggressive and acts like a big sister to BoiBoi. She forces BoiBoi to play game with her when he doesn’t want to. Usually, you will hear BoiBoi complaining by ‘mumbling’ all the ways. Their favourite games include tug-of-war and hide-and-seek.
