Every Mother's Day reminds me that there are many types of mums out there - who all share one thing in common... kids!

There's my mother-in-law - who will give us the same line every year - "Aiyah, why must celebrate? Everywhere also long queue... eat at home better" and thus ends up cooking for everyone, every year.

There's my mum who "expects" (except from the only son) my sister and I to throw a "surprise" (no kidding) party for her every year.

And then there's me (God knows, what my daughter will say about me in the future).

On Mother's Day, just like everyday, I'll tell her - that she has a mother who loves her infinitely and she is already the best gift I could ever wish for.

There is a line in this famous Chinese song which goes like this, “天下的妈妈都是一样的”. Translation? Every mother in the world is identical.

What defines a good mother? Is it patience? Compassion? The ability to bring up a child, cook dinner, or do laundry? Well even a domestic helper can do all that. But what makes mothers so special is that they possess a great heart that gives out infinite motherly love.

Like any other kid on the street, I was quite mischievous. My mother would punish me anywhere, anytime as long I had made mistakes that deserved disciplinary actions.

At that time, I regarded her as the strictest mom, compared to my friends’ mom. The meanest thing I did was to sometimes wish that I could swap mom.

Do not be mistaken! I have totally regretted that immature thought now! For I have realised her best intentions for me.

Today, not only she is my mom, she has also become my best friend as I know I can never ever find such a friend elsewhere.

What is my present for her for every Mother’s Day? The best present for her is to give my utmost love every second, minute, hour, days, years, the rest of my life, for I know she wants no materialistic gifts but that affection.

What about you? What are you planning to give to your mother next Mother’s Day?
