On 26 October 2007, the Healthy Workforce (HWC) Sports and Games Committee members organised the annual HPB Fitness Assessment Day. The event, now called Fitness Fiesta, continued its tradition of incorporating a record creating activity after the completion of the fitness test.
It was an unusually hot day but the 317 staff that completed the picturesque walking and running routes at Jurong Lake Park seems impervious to the scorching afternoon sun. Perhaps this was attributed to the loud cheers from the boisterous group of 100 “supporters”, but many agreed that the accomplishment is a reflection of the strong belief among staff for the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle.
The highlight of the day was when HPB partnered with Fraser & Neave (F&N), to set a new Singapore record for the most number of people (313 people) walking a distance of 10 metres with their legs tied together. This was followed by the customary group photos and a “Green” Lucky Draw, a novel activity which encourages recycling and finally, all the staff were rewarded for their participation with an F&N goodie bag.
