Food Review in Clementi
Situated in Clementi Market, you will find the brightly-lit Tanglin Halt Western Food Stall. With more than ten years of experience, the chef offers 24 dishes on his menu. Other than the classics, the chef offers dishes catering to local tastes. No wonder many are willing to wait for up to 30 minutes on a Saturday evening.

Must Try!
- Chicken cutlet drenched in the tantalising sauce (a secret recipe the chef has come up with on his own) is simply irresistible. A piece of de-boned chicken drumstick complete with fries, coleslaw, baked beans and cucumber at an affordable $4, the serving is enough for the hungry. For the starving, change the fries to rice!
- Fish & Chips is made different. Instead of a single thin slice of fish, the chef made this dish bite size. Ideal for girls on first dates! The batter is light and the colour is enticing. Similarly, the dish comes with fries, coleslaw, baked beans and cucumber.

Food Review in Hong Lim Food Centre
Hong Lim Food Centre is 15 minutes of brisk walking from HPB. It is located behind Chinatown Point. It is a good place to go if you want to do your share of physical activity for the day and if you have errants to do like going to the Post Office, developing photos from your digital camera in Chinatown Point.
We reviewed stalls which were recommended by HPBians colleagues.

Crayfish Hor Fun #02-41A. Closed on Sundays & PH

Long queues were seen at this stall. Be prepared to line up for 15 minutes.
For $3, you can get chicken noodle, $4 crayfish with prawns and for $5 just crayfish alone.
The gravy from the crayfish and prawns is really flavourful.

Pasta Express. #02-42 Closed on Sunday & PH

Pasta Express. #02-42 Closed on Sunday & PH
This stall is not so crowded cos’ I guess most Singaporeans prefer Chinese food but their pasta is really different. They also sell western food. They have
- Seafood Spaghetti (prawns, clams and squid) - $6
- Spaghetti with white clams - $4.50
- Spaghetti Pomodora (tomato and herbs) - $3
- Spaghetti with streaky bacon in tomato sauce - $4
- Fettuccine with streaky bacon in cream and egg sauce - $4.50
- Fettuccine Bolognese - $4
- Fettuccine Alfredo (chicken, ham, peas in cream sauce)- $4.50
- Penne Arrabiata (spicy tomato sauce) - $3
I really love the seafood spaghetti served with clams, prawns and sotong, with a touch of chilli.

Ah Kow Mushroom minced pork mee #02-43. Open daily.

This minced pork noodles beats the one at Chinatown temporary food centre and slightly better than Tai Hua minced pork noodles at Crawford Road next to ICA. The amount of black vinegar is just right. You also have to queue up at this stall though not as long at the crayfish hor fun. A bowl of noodles cost $3, $4.

Outram Park Fried Kway Teow #02-18. Closed on Sunday & PH.

This is the famous char kway teow from the old Outram Park (before the blocks were torn down). Be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes. We waited for 25 minutes because they got our orders mixed up. It’s no wonder there was long queue! At $2 for a small portion, we had to “tan chin ku.” This is the way I like my kway teow, moist and filled with ‘harm’ ful cockles (I am protected against Hepatitis A with Hepatitis A immunisation).

Tanglin Crispy Curry Puffs #02-33. Closed on Sunday & PH.

They have 3 types of puffs; curry chicken, sardine and yam. They cost a $1 each. I must say the chicken curry puffs were not impressive. The curry flavour was too hot and full of spices. A1 curry puffs from Ghim Moh market and a stall in Lorong 6 Toa Payoh market are much better with chunks of chicken inside.

At the end of lunch which may take 45 minutes, if you have sent your digital photos for printing at No. 1 Color Centre, they would just be ready for collection. They are located at Chinatown point #02-45. From the shop, you can just walk across to the Hong Lim Food Centre through a connecting bridge.

I always save all my holiday photos till I have 100 before I sent them for printing as they only cost 15 cents (4R) a copy. If you have 50-99 photos, it cost 20 cents and less than 50 photos, it cost 25 cents.
