Child Safety Topics > Safety at the Playground

The playground is a great place for children to have fun, exercise, and make new friends. However, do take care to protect your children against injuries while they are having fun. Here are some tips:

  • Supervise your children when they are at the playground.

  • Remind your children to take turns when playing on the swings and slides.

  • Look around and make sure there are no broken glass pieces or rubbish lying around the playground. Also check that the playground equipment is not rusty or damaged.

  • Do not bring your children to the playground during bad weather. Never let your children play on equipment that is wet and slippery.

  • Many children are injured while playing on the monkey bars. Make sure your children are able to grip the bars firmly and move forward steadily. Teach your children to stay focused when using the monkey bar, and not play or jostle with their friends. Supervise them to prevent serious injuries.

  • Always check that the playground equipment is appropriate for your children’s age.
