Child Safety Topics > Safety at the Swimming Pool

Swimming is a fantastic activity for the whole family, and provides good cardiovascular exercise. However, there are risks that come with this fun-filled activity. Here are some things to look out for when you're at the pool:

  • Always accompany your children when they are swimming. Keep an eye on your children when they are in the pool.

  • Make sure that the water does not reach above your child’s chest-level when he is standing straight in the pool. This ensures that the pool is not too deep for him.

  • Floats and other swimming aids help prevent any accidents, so be sure that your children are sufficiently protected.

  • Should the weather turn bad, leave the pool immediately.

  • Take note of where the lifeguards and rescue aids are located.
