The Health Promotion Board (HPB) continues its Positive Art series, with a second, groundbreaking art installation - Positive Art Sunny . This first-of-its-kind art installation cleverly combines shadow play and text to reinforce the importance of positive thinking.
Measuring 3 by 5.5 metres, Positive Art Sunny is an innovative metallic installation which harnesses natural light to reflect two positive mental health messages, troubles won t stay forever and worries fade away at different times of the day.
HPB s Positive Art series aims to use distinctive art installations to promote positive thinking among Singaporeans. The first in the series, Positive Art Smile , featured an art installation made out of ice and resin, which interspersed the words Smile and Frown . The word Frown melted, whilst Smile , remained solid, an artistic interpretation of the often-quoted saying that unhappiness passes with time. The second in the series, Positive Art Sunny , aims to create a similarly strong visual experience through this modern sun-dial inspired structure.
The Positive Art Series serves as a reminder to all to stay positive even in the face of challenges. Bad times come and go but a positive attitude can weather even the hardest of situations, said Ms Sng Yan Ling, Deputy Director, Mental Health Education, HPB.
Members of the public will be able to view the unique Positive Art Sunny at The Cathay from 1 October to 1 November 2010. They are also encouraged to take photos with the installation and submit their photos along with a creative caption for a chance to win attractive prizes. More details are available at
