Winners to receive prizes at HPB National Day Observance Ceremony
A black and white photograph depicting an early form of physical activity tree climbing has emerged the winner of the Health Promotion Board (HPB) s Living Strong photo contest. The contest, organised with two categories for both the public and HPB staff, ran from 13 to 27 July.
2 The top prize of the contest goes to Mr Tan Leang Tek. His winning photograph depicts three young men in swimming trunks having fun outdoors. One of them is hanging upside down from a tree. The photograph was taken in 1985 and was posted under the category Time Out . Please see Annex B for the photograph.
3 In their comments, the judges noted that the winning photograph was taken at a creative angle and evoked a sense of fun while depicting physical activity.
4 The Living Strong photo contest was held to celebrate 50 years of health promotion in Singapore. The public was invited to submit captioned photographs that documented events in health promotion in the last 50 years. Submissions were grouped in five categories School Days, Exercise Euphoria, Health at Home, Community Memories and Time Out. The winning photographs were chosen through online public voting (50%) and judging (50%) by HPB representatives.
5 Winners will receive their prizes from Mr Khaw Boon Wan, Minister for Health, during HPB s National Day Observance Ceremony on 31 July 2009.
6 The National Day Observance Ceremony is held annually to bring HPB staff together in an organisation-wide celebration of National Day. The ceremony includes singing of the national anthem and pledge-taking.
