Programmes for Primary Schools

HMSP aims to promote healthier food choices in schools through a collaborative effort with teachers, canteen vendors, and students. In partnership with the Ministry of Education, healthy eating habits are encouraged from a young age. ​

We support participating schools by providing guidance on healthy food options, offering educational resources, and advising vendors on the use of healthier ingredients.​

Virtual Coaching is conducted for selected parents to support them as they guide their child to build and sustain healthy foundational lifestyle habits, supporting disease prevention and long-term health outcomes. These sessions focus on establishing healthy routines based on the child’s needs, readiness, and existing habits.​

During the teleconsult, healthcare professionals engage families through real-time two-way communication to understand behaviours and collaboratively set practical, step-wise goals across key domains such as nutrition, physical activity, and screen use. Parents are highly encouraged to bring along their child for the sessions!​

Teleconsults are offered by invitation only to selected students. Parents will be informed if their child is eligible for the teleconsult service.

HPB provides programmes and resources to schools to educate students about Substance Abuse. More information will be provided soon.

Youth Preventive Health and Dental Services provides health screening, immunisation, and dental services for Primary 1 to 6 students. The screenings include vision, hearing, growth, and development assessments, as well as medical check-ups. These services help protect students' health and ensure early detection of potential health issues.

Objectives: Facilitate the timely detection and management of high-risk behaviours (smoking/vaping) and health related issues (obesity and chronic conditions).

Target audience: Students requiring support on weight management and smoking/vaping cessation programmes in schools.

Programme details:

• Schools on this programme are identified by the Ministry of Education. Under this programme, healthcare professionals are stationed in schools to provide convenience for students seeking health-related advices.

• Through individual/group health counselling sessions conducted at schools, lifestyle coaches (student health advisor) provide guidance for students with health related issue.

• Where necessary, timely interventions and follow ups are provided.

Format: In-person or virtual/tele-counselling

Objective: To enable educators to build a supportive environment, aiding students in kickstarting healthy habits as part of their Health Plan journey. 

Programme details: 

• Posters that provide easy-to-direct guidelines across different health topics 

• Habit Charts to keep track of class goals across the health topics 

• Movement Cards that provide movement ideas to try during study/class breaks 

• True or False Cards for facts related to the various health domains that can be used to quiz students

The Health Activity Playbook is a digital guidebook that supports schools in planning and implementing health-promoting activities. It covers key health domains such as Nutrition, Mental Well-being, Sleep, Screen Time & Cyber Wellness, Physical Activity & Myopia Prevention, and Vaping, with recommended activities and ready-to-use resources for teachers and PSGs to implement or share with students and parents. The Active Family series offers a variety of fun-filled activities, team sports, and games designed to promote bonding between parents and children (6-12 years old). ​
